Counselling and Psychotherapy in North Devon and surrounding areas
Hello and a warm welcome to my website
How might counselling help me?
Are you struggling to make sense of things and unable to control the negative downward spiral of your thoughts?
Do you long to make lasting changes but find yourself trapped in the same old patterns of unhelpful experience?
How can you find a greater understanding of yourself and your relationships with those around you?
Would it help to explore your thoughts and feelings as they surface, in a safe, calm and confidential environment?
My name is Catherine and I am warm, friendly and easy to talk to. I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist and a registered member of the BACP and abide by its ethical framework. I offer a calm, confidential counselling service in Barnstaple for people based in and around North Devon.
As your counsellor, I am passionately committed to building an open and trusting relationship where you can vocalise difficult feelings, such as anxiety, sadness or stress. Together we will undertake a gentle exploration of what has brought you to counselling and find ways of moving towards empowering you to make fresh choices for lasting change.
How counselling can help
I believe there are times for all of us when we may feel lost, helpless, unheard and alone. We may struggle with overwhelming feelings about ourselves, others and challenging events in our lives. But I also believe in our own inner ability to heal ourselves, build on our personal resources and view our lives from a place of greater clarity. Counselling is both a gentle but powerful process and one where I will strive to work alongside you to help you develop your inner strength, sense of purpose and potential to take back control of your life.
Working with you
As an integrative counsellor, I am able to draw on a range of counselling models, using those which meet your individual needs. In this way, I am able to combine a variety of ideas and approaches in your sessions which may deepen your self-awareness and sense of being heard and understood.
Taking the first step
I understand that taking the first step to ask for help can seem overwhelming. I also know that the idea of sharing difficult or intimate thoughts and feelings with someone you don't know can be a daunting prospect. If this is how it feels for you right now, then please feel free to get in touch. You are very welcome to call with any questions or concerns you may have about counselling.
