FAQ's Catherine Stobbs Counselling & Psychotherapy North Devon
Here you will find the answers to questions that I most frequently get asked. However if you do not find the answer to your questions then please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
How long will my sessions be?
Each session lasts an hour; to ensure your session ends smoothly, a gentle mention of the time remaining will be given a little before the end.
How will I know counselling is right for me?
Please get in touch by telephone for an initial chat to talk through any queries and concerns you might have around beginning counselling.
What happens if I am unable to attend a session?
If you are unable to attend a session, I will aim to offer you an alternative appointment in the same week. Please give 48 hours notice if you cannot attend a session, as I operate a cancellation policy; please see my prices page for details.
How frequent will my sessions be?
Sessions are once a week, usually on the same day, although I appreciate that for some clients, especially shift workers, this is not always possible. Therefore, I am happy to be flexible around timings. I am also able to offer early morning and evening appointments.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions will depend entirely on your individual needs; you may find that you are ready to end your sessions in a matter of weeks, or you may find that you would welcome a longer period of time. You may end your sessions whenever you wish; however, it is usually helpful to allow a few sessions to bring the counselling process to a close. This is something we can review together as your sessions progress.
How will I feel during counselling?
If you are new to counselling you may find it strange to share your thoughts and feelings with someone you don't know, but hopefully you find it a relief to talk openly in a confidential, respectful and non-judgemental environment.
